Design Concepts
Before you build a quotation, you need a clear design direction. The Design Concepts page is where your team captures the look, feel, and material choices for a project -- think of it as the creative brief that guides everything that follows.
Choosing a Design Style
Start by selecting a design style that matches your client's taste. You can choose from:
- Modern -- Clean lines, neutral tones, and functional furniture
- Minimal -- Open spaces, muted colours, and a stripped-back aesthetic
- Luxury -- Rich materials, ornate details, and high-end finishes
- Contemporary -- A blend of current trends with timeless elements
- Traditional -- Classic Indian or heritage-inspired interiors
- Scandinavian -- Light wood, white walls, and cozy textiles
Simply click the style that fits best. You can only pick one, so choose the one that best represents the overall direction.
Setting Colour Palettes
Define three colours that will guide the project:
- Primary colour -- The dominant colour for walls, large surfaces, and major furniture pieces. For example, a warm Charcoal Gray for a modern living room.
- Secondary colour -- The supporting colour for accent furniture, cabinetry, or feature walls.
- Accent colour -- A pop of colour used sparingly in cushions, artwork, or lighting fixtures.
You can enter a colour name or a specific colour code. A live preview swatch updates as you type, so you can see exactly what you are working with.
Selecting Materials and Finishes
Next, pick the materials you plan to use across the project:
- Wardrobe finish -- Choose from Laminate, Veneer, Acrylic, PU, or Glass
- Kitchen finish -- Same options as wardrobe
- Wall panels -- You can select multiple options here (for example, Fluted Panel for the living room and Fabric Padding for the bedroom)
- Flooring type -- Type in your choice freely (such as "Italian Marble" or "Vitrified Tiles")
- Countertop material -- Type in your choice (such as "Quartz" or "Granite")
These selections help the team stay aligned and feed into the quotation later.
Adding Moodboard Reference Images
The moodboard is organized by room category -- Living Room, Kitchen, Bedroom, Wardrobe, Lighting, and Decor. Here is how to use it:
- Click the tab for the room you want (for example, "Kitchen").
- Click the "Add Reference Image" card.
- Select one or more images from your computer.
- Your images appear as thumbnails under that tab.
- To remove an image, hover over it and click the X button.
Each tab keeps its images separate, so switching between tabs shows only the references for that particular room.
Saving and Sharing with the Team
When you are happy with your design concept:
- Click Save Concept to save your work as a draft. You can come back and edit it anytime.
- Click Send for Review to share the concept with the client or your manager for feedback.
- If you need to go back and update site measurements first, click Back to Site Survey.
Drawings & Floor Plans
The Drawings page is where you manage all technical drawings and visual assets for a project -- 2D layouts, electrical plans, furniture layouts, 3D renders, and more.
Uploading Drawings
- Click the "Upload Drawing" button at the top of the page.
- Select your files. You can upload images, PDFs, or DWG files. Multiple files can be uploaded at once.
- Each file is added to the drawing library with a title based on the filename.
The types of drawings you can manage include:
- 2D Layout -- Floor plans showing room arrangement and dimensions
- Furniture Layout -- Where each piece of furniture goes
- Electrical Layout -- Switchboard, outlet, and lighting locations
- Ceiling Layout -- False ceiling design with lighting and cove details
- Plumbing Layout -- Water supply and drainage points
- 3D View -- Rendered perspective views of designed spaces
Organizing by Type and Room
Use the filter chips at the top to narrow down what you see:
- Filter by type -- Click a chip like "Electrical Layout" to see only electrical drawings.
- Filter by room -- Click "Kitchen" to see only kitchen-related drawings.
You can combine both filters. For example, selecting "Electrical Layout" and "Kitchen" shows only the kitchen electrical plan. Click "All" to clear your filters.
Managing Versions and Revisions
Every drawing shows a version badge (v1, v2, v3, and so on). When you upload a revised version of an existing drawing, update the version number on the card. Previous versions stay in the library for reference.
If the client requests changes, use the Client Comments section at the bottom of the page:
- Type the revision note (for example, "Move the electrical outlet in the master bedroom to the opposite wall").
- Click "Add Revision Request".
- The request appears with a "Pending" status.
- Once the revision is done, click the status icon to mark it as "Resolved".
When everything is ready, click Send for Client Review to share the drawing package with your client.
The Smart Quotation Builder
This is the star feature of Igolo Interior. The Smart Quotation Builder is a step-by-step wizard that helps you create a detailed, professionally priced quotation in minutes -- complete with room-by-room breakdowns, automatic pricing, and a polished PDF ready to send to your client.
What It Does
The builder walks you through seven simple steps. As you select rooms, items, and materials, it automatically calculates quantities based on room dimensions, applies pricing based on your chosen package tier, and generates a complete quotation with GST included. No spreadsheets, no manual calculations.
Getting Started
When you open the quotation builder, you will see four ways to begin:
- Start from Scratch -- Build everything step by step with full control
- Upload Layout Plan -- Upload a floor plan and let AI detect rooms automatically (more on this below)
- Use Template -- Start with a pre-filled Standard 3BHK package to save time
- Reuse Previous Quotation -- Clone an existing quotation and modify it
Pick the option that suits your situation and you are off.
Step 1: Enter Project Details
Fill in the basics about your client and their property:
- Client information -- Name, email, and phone number. If you came here from a lead page, these are filled in automatically.
- Project name -- Give the project a descriptive name (for example, "Prestige Lakeside Villa").
- City -- Select from the list of supported cities.
- Property type -- Choose from 1BHK, 2BHK, 3BHK, 4BHK, Villa, Penthouse, Office, or Commercial. This determines which rooms are suggested in the next step.
- Flat size -- Enter the approximate area in square feet.
- Budget range -- Select the client's budget bracket.
- Package tier -- Choose Basic, Standard, Premium, or Luxury (see "Package Tiers Explained" below).
You must fill in the client name, property type, and package tier before moving to the next step.
Step 2: Select Rooms
A grid of 14 room types appears. Select which rooms to include in the quotation by clicking on them.
To save time, click "Select Standard Rooms" and the system automatically picks the rooms that are typical for your chosen property type. For example, a 3BHK automatically selects Living Room, Dining Area, Kitchen, Master Bedroom, Guest Bedroom, Kids Bedroom, Utility, and Foyer.
You can also add custom rooms (like "Home Theatre") by clicking the "Add Room" card and typing a name.
For each selected room, enter the approximate dimensions -- Length, Breadth, and Height in feet. These dimensions are used to automatically calculate quantities for items like false ceilings, wardrobes, and wall panels in the next step.
Step 3: Choose Items for Each Room
Each room you selected appears as an expandable section. Click a room to see the available items, organized into three tiers:
- Recommended items -- Core items that most projects need (such as wardrobes, TV units, and false ceilings). These are selected by default when using templates.
- Optional items -- Useful additions that enhance the space (such as a vanity unit or study table).
- Premium items -- High-end upgrades for luxury projects (such as a bar unit or accent wall).
Click any item to add or remove it. The price for each item is calculated instantly based on your room dimensions and package tier.
Step 4: Pick Materials and Finishes
Choose the materials that will be used across the project. You can apply the same materials to all rooms, or customize per room if needed (for example, a different finish for the kitchen than the bedrooms).
The four material categories are:
- Core wood material -- The base plywood (Commercial Ply, BWR Ply, BWP Ply, or HDHMR). Each option has a different price impact.
- Finish type -- The surface finish (Laminate, Acrylic, PU, or Veneer). This has the biggest impact on pricing.
- Hardware package -- Hinges, channels, and handles (Basic, Hettich Standard, Hettich Premium, or Blum).
- Kitchen countertop -- The slab material (Granite, Corian, Quartz, or Sintered Stone). This only appears if you included a kitchen.
The builder clearly shows you the price impact of each selection, so you can make informed choices with your client.
Step 5: Add Extras
Select optional services and premium extras to round out the quotation:
- Civil and services -- Painting, profile lighting
- Furniture and decor -- Loose furniture, decor items, curtains
- Utility works -- Electrical work, plumbing work, civil modifications, deep cleaning
- Premium add-ons -- Glass partitions, smart locks, appliance integration
Click on any add-on card to include it. Each one shows its price clearly.
Step 6: Review Pricing and Apply Discounts
This step shows you the complete pricing breakdown:
- A detailed table of every item, room by room, with specifications and amounts
- Summary cards showing material upgrade costs, hardware upgrade costs, and add-on costs
- A discount field where you can enter a percentage discount (the discount amount calculates live)
Review everything carefully. This is your last chance to adjust before generating the final quotation.
Step 7: Generate and Send to Client
The final step shows a polished preview of the entire quotation, including:
- Client details and project scope
- All rooms included
- Full cost breakdown (base cost, upgrades, add-ons, discount, GST, and total)
Click "Complete Quotation" to save it. Once saved, you can:
- Download PDF -- Get a beautifully formatted PDF to share with your client
- Send to Client -- Email the quotation directly to the client's email address
- Duplicate -- Create a copy to modify for a different option or version
- Convert to Project -- When the client approves, convert the quotation into a live project (this kicks off the 6-phase execution cycle)
Package Tiers Explained
Igolo Interior offers four package tiers. Each tier sets default materials and applies a pricing multiplier to all items:
| Package | What It Includes | Price Level |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | Commercial Ply, Laminate finish, Basic hardware, Granite countertop | Base price |
| Standard | BWR Ply, Laminate finish, Hettich Standard hardware, Granite countertop | +15% over Basic |
| Premium | BWP Ply, Acrylic finish, Hettich Premium hardware, Quartz countertop | +35% over Basic |
| Luxury | HDHMR, PU finish, Blum hardware, Corian countertop | +60% over Basic |
The package gives your client a clear starting point. You can always fine-tune individual materials in Step 4.
Using AI Floor Plan Analysis
Have a floor plan handy? Let AI do the heavy lifting:
- From the wizard start screen, select "Upload Layout Plan".
- Upload your floor plan image (JPEG, PNG, WebP, or PDF -- up to 15 MB).
- Click "Analyze Layout". The AI will study the floor plan and detect rooms, dimensions, and the BHK configuration.
- Review the results. The AI shows you what it found -- detected rooms with approximate areas, total carpet area, and suggested items for each room. A confidence score tells you how reliable the results are.
- Click "Apply & Continue" to auto-populate the wizard with the detected data, or skip and add rooms manually if you prefer.
Always double-check the AI-detected dimensions before proceeding, especially for unusual floor plans.
Downloading the PDF Quotation
Click "Download PDF" from the quotation detail page or from Step 7 of the wizard. The PDF includes your company branding, client details, room-by-room item breakdown, material selections, pricing summary with GST, and terms and conditions. It downloads automatically to your computer.
Sending the Quotation to the Client via Email
Click "Send to Client" and the system emails the quotation PDF to the client's email address. The quotation status automatically changes from Draft to Sent, so your team knows it has been shared.
Managing Quotation Versions
Clients often ask for changes -- a different finish, an extra room, a revised budget. Igolo Interior handles this with version tracking.
Each quotation can have multiple versions (v1, v2, v3, and so on). When you revise a quotation:
- A new version is created with its own room selections, materials, and pricing
- Previous versions are preserved so you can compare or refer back
- The version number is displayed clearly on the quotation list and detail pages
A quotation moves through these stages:
- Draft -- You are still building or editing it
- Sent -- It has been emailed to the client
- Approved -- The client has accepted it
- Rejected -- The client has declined it
- Archived -- It has been converted into a project (locked from further edits)
You can filter your quotation list by status to quickly find what you need.
BOQ (Bill of Quantities)
What It Is
The BOQ is a detailed breakdown of all materials and labour needed to execute a project. Think of the quotation as what the client sees, and the BOQ as the internal cost picture your team works with.
How It Is Auto-Generated from Your Quotation
Once a quotation is approved, the BOQ is generated automatically. It pulls in every room, item, quantity, and rate from the quotation and organizes them into a detailed cost table. Additional internal costs are calculated automatically:
- Transport and handling -- 2% of material cost
- Contingency -- 5% of material cost (a buffer for unexpected expenses)
The result is your Total Estimated Cost -- the real cost of delivering the project.
Adding Custom Items
Need to include something that was not in the original quotation? Click "Add Custom Item" and fill in the room, item name, specifications, unit, quantity, and rate. The amount calculates automatically. You can edit or delete custom items at any time.
Exporting to Excel
Click "Export Excel" to download the BOQ as a spreadsheet file. This is useful for offline review, sharing with your procurement team, or importing into other tools.
Budget Approval
Before a quotation becomes a live project, it goes through budget approval. This ensures the numbers make sense and the project will be profitable.
Sending for Manager Approval
From the BOQ page, click "Send for Budget Approval". This sends the internal cost breakdown to your manager for review. The manager receives a notification and can see the full cost breakdown.
The Approval Process
The manager reviews:
- Room-by-room costs -- How much each room will cost internally
- Contingency -- A 5% buffer for unexpected costs
- Target margin -- The recommended profit margin (typically 25%)
- Final client quote value -- What the client is paying vs. what it will cost to deliver
The manager then has three options:
- Approve Budget & Convert -- The budget looks good. This approves the budget and converts the quotation into a live project. The system automatically creates 6 work phases, a project timeline, and a financial tracker.
- Request Revision -- Something needs adjusting. The budget goes back to the BOQ stage for changes.
- Reject -- The budget is not viable. The quotation may need significant rework or may be archived.
What Happens After Approval
When a budget is approved and converted:
- A new project is created, linked to the client and quotation
- Six standard work phases are generated with calculated timelines
- A project wallet is set up to track all payments and expenses
- The quotation is archived (locked from further edits)
- The client, manager, and supervisor all receive notifications
Your project is now live and ready for execution.
